Poker players heading south
Many players are now on their way down to the Bahamas for the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure tournament. It starts Thursday and is expected to draw many of the top pros. A week later the Aussie Millions event, held in Melbourne Australia, will also draw a lot of poker’s best. I will keep you updated on who is doing what.
Friday night I had dinner with Annie Duke. She was telling me about hands she had played at the World Series and why she played them the way she did. I gave her a hypothetical situation about preflop raising and she left me with some pretty important info. She said you should be raising for three reasons, to eliminate opponents - you want to be playing post flop short handed, to know where your opponent is and what kind of hand they could be holding, and three, to take the lead on the hand.
And by the way…stay away from Grand Street in downtown Los Angeles this week. Full Tilt has invaded LA to shoot a new commercial. Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson, Clonie Gowen, Gus Hansen and the rest of Team Full Tilt can be spotted this week before they head down under.
