Player of the year announced and Harrah’s picks up new owners
A lot of poker news in the last few days…just to catch you up…
Congrats go out to Joe Hachem for winning the Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship at the Bellagio on Tuesday night. He was up against some tough competition with Daniel Negreanu and Danish pro Mads Anderson making the final table, but he outlasted everyone to take home the two million dollar prize.
Michael Mizrachi was also named Card Player Player of the Year besting Nam Le and J.C. Tran. Mizrachi made a whopping 11 final tables this year and cashed for 2.3 million dollars.
Harrah’s was bought out on Tuesday via a cash transaction by Texas Pacific Group and Apollo Management Group for $17 billion dollars. This purchase also came with a more than $10 billion debt that Harrah’s had occurred.
