Gus Who?

23 year old Kosta “Gus” Sengos beat some of the biggest names in poker to capture more than $200,000 today at the inaugural World Series of Poker Circuit Championship at Horseshoe Council Bluffs, IA.
Sengos beat 141 of the world’s best poker players to capture a coveted World Series of Poker Circuit Championship ring. World-class players such as Phil Gordon, T.J. Cloutier and Chris “Jesus” Ferguson all fell by the wayside as Sengos continued his march toward the $219,576 top prize. In addition Sengos received a $10,000 buy-in to the 2007 World Series of Poker World Championship and $1,000 in travel money.
Stengos, a South Dakota resident, defeated Californian Paul Kraus after more than 80 hands of heads-up play when his J-8 bested Kraus’ Q-10 on a river 8. Kraus, a 35-year-old commercial aircraft dealer from Los Angeles, has only been playing poker for four years. He has cashed in the WSOP Main Event in 2004 and the $25,000 WPT Championship in both 2005 and 2006. He also finished 10th in the $5,000 short handed event at the 2005 WSOP, which Doyle Brunson eventually won to claim his 10th bracelet.
“I’m speechless,” Sengos said after winning. “I don’t know what to say. It’s absolutely amazing.” The rest of the final table took home the following:
2nd Paul Kraus $115,209
3rd Sam Von Duhn $67,770
4th Jeff Banghart $54,216
